I think what you're getting at is more about whatis good entertainment.
If you play Auld Lang Syne on New Years and people enjoyed it then they
were entertained. If you play Auld Lang Syne and communicate emotion
and people got it then it's good music. Not mutually exclusive but
definitely not one and the same.

Taking the hint from the list I recently purchased Canned Heat's
compilation Uncanned. Alan Wilson's playing fits into this emotion
category quite well. His playing is flawed, rife with mistakes and yet
the sheer genuis of his expression overides it all. I'm just sorry he
never lived to acheive the musicianship that almost always only comes
with time. fjm
