Subject: Re: premium grade harps, reed weights

Re: premium grade
Premium quality, hand finished instruments are one of a number of options
that are being considered.

Re: reed weights
I have never experienced a wax reed weight coming off during playing. It
is wise, though, to make sure that the wax is firmly stuck. I hold a lit
match just above the reed to slightly melt the wax, and if the wax is being
added to a reed with an existing brass weight I will rough the surface of
the weight with a file to give the wax something to dig in to. I
originally got the wax idea from a description of Chinese sheng reeds,
which used weights made of bee's wax and powdered lead.
