I'm ecstatic to say I have solved my mic search (for now anyway) with an
Astatic BLJT-30.

I called a guy who was selling some amps and mics and cords and stuff on a
radio station call in swap shop. I went to look at a Peavey Audition 20,
which he was selling for $45. Since he had mics, I took a few harps and
headed out. I played it through his mic. The amp wasn't that great, but I
liked the mic, and he sold it to me for $5. He said it is "just an old mic
I got somewhere, it's probably an antique."

It sounds real good. I bought the amp anyway, figuring it will play alright
and something better will come along, and I'll give this to someone else
who is starting out then.

How can I tell if this is an original mic (It's black, looks old, but
fairly well cared for.)? Is this the Astatic you guys are talking about?

Also in the deal was a AIWA DM-14, which also appears to be about the same
age as Noah's Ark. It is smaller and easier to hold, but gives me more
feedback than my wife. So much that I can't get the volume up enough to
hear what it sounds like.

OK, so I made a boner on the jamboners (I read Alec's post, and realized
they are a bit out of toon and don't bend, but I don't bend on anything
else yet either, so I didn't notice that.) how did I do here. Again, I know
the amp ain't that great, but what about the mic?
