Subject: Jammin'Whammer Recollections

Well I get requests for Whammer all the time, I did it out live for
many years. I even did it in the studio as the audio part for the
promotional video for the San Diego Chicken mascot. I guess the chicken
freelances and sends the video out as a demo to get some off season
mascot work. I saw J.Geils many times and always loved to hear MD do
it. One gig he was a little tipsy and totally screwed it up I mean
totally, dropped the mic (big feedback squeal) lost his place etc,
major train wreck. So bad that they just stopped and Peter Wolf said
"We usually let Magic have a shot before the show, but I guess he got
hold of the whole bottle" The band went on to play the other tunes
great and Magic was fine. But hey it happens to the best of them!

I have replaced Whammer in our show with Rod P's Little Bitty Pretty
one/Rockin' Robin harp instumental and so far has had the same effect.
All I have to do is end with that 10 blow bend !
Also saw the original Fab Tbirds line up in the late 70's and they did
Whammer and Caledonia and every other barroom fave , they just tore it
up like no other band.
