Hi, John,

That version was recorded in 1973. Charlie's "Harpin' On A Riff" was
originally on an LP entitled "The Harmonica According To Charlie
Musselwhite", issue date unknown. It was reissued on Blind Pig sometime in
the past ten (?) years. Charlie has used many of those same riffs on other
tunes, one of which is on "In My Time" and the title escapes me at the
moment. IMT was on Alligator, though, which puts in in the early 90's.
I've heard Nine Below Zero do an instrumental with many of the "Harpin'"
riffs, too, on an album from the early 80's.

None of that answers your question, though. :-) Since Charlie has been
around since before there was hair, I have to assume that MD heard Charlie
do those licks first, but that's strictly an assumption on my part.
