When the HarpStart scheme in the UK in full swing, David Michelsen and
Norman Ives taught kids to play a variety of different harmonicas,
including the S-50. They foudn that those who had already learned to play
the "regular" chrom ahd to spen some time adjusting to the S-50, but those
that had never previously played any sort of harmonica, learned the S-50 as
quickly as the others learned the regular chrom. The lack of valves makes
some nice things possible. If anyone is interested, I can email them a copy
of an brief article I wrote about them.
