Remember the CX-12 has significantly improved air-tightness compared to
many other chromatics, due to its monolithic mouthpiece design. The back
pressure you describe in straight positioned chromatics is a feature of
these instruments smaller holes. Getting the holes larger, at least in
the lower range of notes, and keeping the straight position format is an
idea for responsive harmonica design with which I'm familiar.

BTW, isn't your Tonie from Siegfried CX-based in design and straight style
in reed layout? How do you compare that to the regular CX-12 in terms of
responsiveness?
