Let me mention here why the archives reactivation is not a simple call to the
service provider for attention.

Net results, the current service provider, was a one time in a business
relationship with hugh messinger. He had complete access to the workings and
programing of garply.com. The archives and the interface are not run by a
simple standard out-of-the-box program. It is run by programming writen by
hugh. Hugh is not around to make sure it is running properly. The support
staff at Net Results is trying to figure out how the program that hugh wrote
works and what to do to correct the problem.

regrading who is administering harp-l:
Back in September when spah got involved we too asked that question. The
answer was "nobody". We asked "who was willing to be the administrator?" The
answer came back in zero bytes. Nobody stepped forward to do it. Danny
Wilson, as spah webmaster said he knew nothing about administering lists but
he was willing to learn what he could and would do what he could until an
administrator was found. That's where it is. If you are willing to pull
harp-l out of this administrative hole, step forward NOW. Harp-L needs you.
I understand that the harp-l-ers want to be independant and make their own
decisions. If so YOU have to do the work. You have to commit to be online
everyday solving the problems and taking the complaints. This is not a
business here. All of us who are doing work for harp-l or spah are
volunteers. when we spend time on this stuff it's our time we are giving up
from our jobs and our families.

when the footer was added it was not a decision we arbirarily made. the harp-
lers agreed to it back in september when they agreed to have spah as a
sponsor.

when spah chose to begin harp-l-clubnews it was simply a spah administrative
decision. we could have started a clubnews list on any internet server we
wished to and we could call it harp-l-clubnews. It in no way affects the
operation or subscribers of harp-l. It was a decision based on the needs of
30 or so harmonica newsletter editors. It is to serve the harmonica public.
When we see a problem and a simple solution not affecting anyone or any group
adversly we take the action. If the spah board had to ask the spah membership
for permission everytime they made a decision, quite frankly, nothing would
ever get done and there would never be a convention. We certainly do not
intend to ask the harp-l members permission anytime spah makes a spah
administrative decision which has no affect on the harp-l list. The harp-l-
clubnews is exactly that. SPAH and it's members did the work to set it up.
The harp-l-clubnews list doesn't do a darn thing to the regular harp-l. It is
a totally indepandant entity invented, owned and operated by SPAH.

As for the footer, I will repeat, it was agreed to by the harp-lers when spah
agreed to sponsor. This was not an arbirary administrative decision made by
spah or any individuals as to whether there should be one or not.

I have to tell you all that frankly, I was quite disappointed a few weeks ago.
I posted a message to the list stating that the spah board had caught up on
all the past due bills from the harp-l internet provider (the $800 past due
when we got involved and the bills incured since September). I added that the
spah Board had voted at their January meeting to guarantee sponsorship of
harp-l for another year. There would be no need for the harp-lers to be
concerned over the funding issues for the next year. I recieved NOT ONE
answer in reply. Not so much as a "tell the board thanks". Not even a "Oh,
we thought you were paying the bill forever" I even had to email to danny
asking if he saw the post come through. He did. Nobody cared. I know there
are people on harp-l who care and we're getting smart enough to know not to
expect any gratitude, however we would like a little support. How about just
a little trust and faith that SPAH is not out to screw the harp-lers. There
are people on the other end of your complaints and insults who are
volunteering their time to try to keep the ball in the air. Losten up. Don't
be so critical everytime someone does something without your approval. Let us
do what we can and stop throwing stumbling blocks in our way.

Thank you to those who have sent messages of support in the last couple days.
Feel free to post them instead of sending them directly to Danny or myself.
Most of the thanks come personally and all the complaints come posted.
