Subject: amp/mike questions

I am considering buying a small pignose amp (the battery powered one) for
guitar playing. Not knowing anything about mic's and amps, I am wondering
if this same amp can be used with any degree of success with a harp. If it
can, is there any specific mic that would sound best? What about price, is
there a cheap (or shall I say 'less expensive' way to go with this setup?

My main concern is portability. I will be using this setup for jamming with
friends at home, camping, and small parties. Any suggestions?
