Dan, don't buy the Concert. It's a horrible deal, don't get it.
Instead give me the phone number and address of the guy who's selling
it. Seriously, all kidding aside, a 61 Concert in decent condition for
$700? GRAB IT AND GRAB IT NOW! Great amps, though a bit different from
the Bassman. They're similar in some ways, 45 watt output into four 10"
speakers but quite a bit different in others: the Concert uses a solid
state rectifier, Bassman a tube. The Concert has two independent
channels each with their own set of tone controls, the Bassman has two
channels but they share the same tone circuit. The Concert has a
vibrato channel, the Bassman doesn't. Concerts are considered one of
the best large harp amps to get, many great players use them. The
reissue Bassmans are a bit different electronically from the real 50's
vintage ones. The reissues are also quite common whereabouts the
brownface Concerts are a bit rare and highly collectable. The Concert
is without a doubt the better deal, that's a great price, I would
seriously consider it.
