>Subject: help needed fixing this amp

>My Tonemaster is a tiny circa 50's tube amp with 6SJ7, 6V6, 5Y3 tubes, a 6
>x 9 in speaker, and a single off-on-volume control. The problem is that
>the amp sounds great until the volume is turned to about 1/3, then it
>develops ugly distortion and the volume decreases as the control is turned
>further. The circuitry is original, the solder connections appear sound
>and the tubes are all good. Any ideas about the problem?
