Subject: (a chance to plug a harp-l-er or 2 (was: Lost In The Shuffle - Apology)

Danny Wilson showed incredible sensitivity
in his post: Lost In The Shuffle - Apology
where he needlessly raked himself over the coals
for poor little ol' me:

>The following somehow slipped thru the cracks as I was preparing the
>Artist Itinerary Update last Wed evening, and was not included in the
>listing.
- --yes, Danny, i did notice a slip in attendance
at the past two gigs! i was wondering:
what the hell is going on!?

Danny, anyone can get: Lost In The Shuffle
in fact, it happened to me last night
(Shuffle in E).

>My humble apologies to Scott, and to anyone else
>inconvenienced by this oversight.
- --actually, i was wondering how
you keep up with it all in the first place!
no apolgies needed at all on this one, Danny!
glad it got sorted though!

i know, as i hope, all the others realize
who receive, send in their entries,
and read your list, that it's work,
effort, and not much aof a fee for your efforts
and that there are no guarantees.

i, for one, am tickled that our band can
get on it - we certainly don't expect it as a
"right". so, rest, easy, Danny,
and thanks again, for your
love of artist itineraries!

>Even though Scott is in a "remote"
>area, he is doing a fantastic job on the air waves with his blues
>broadcasts, and we all appreciate that, Scott.
- --true, some may think it remote,
others have called it the:

Republic of the Harmonica of the Pacific

not to mention by having instant access to your
itinerary list update and harp-l,
thousands upon thousands of physical miles
that separate us from the rest of the globe
is virtually meaningless!

and speaking of brooacasts,
now i can get to the real important
subject at hand, shame-shame-shame-less
plugs for some harp-l-ers:

i hope some of you tune in tomorrow night'
you will not be disappointed,
especially if you like blues harp,
the show will be absolutely pregnant with it!

blue monday micronesia
KPRG 89.3 fm, agana
public radio for guam

you can hear the awesome sounds
of yet another tremendous harp-l-er
who done good: Rob Paparozzi!
i can't wait for the fans out here
to hear more from this cat, i mean rat!
his cd: "First Take" is got some
very interesting stuff on there -
including his harp-l-tape III entry
shame shame shame, which corrects the
age-old void of disco w/ no harp content!
he's got a ringer band with him
(hudson river rats),
which doesn't hurt!

if i can get the tape player working properly,
i'll try to throw in another harp-l-er,
the man from a place, smyrna, tennessee,
which in some ways,
is even more remote than my humble abode,
none other than rick "r" barker
of ricky & the cool rays.

like Rob P., the western pacific blues audiance
has had the splendid experience of sampling
Rick's unique and very original sounds.
he writes the songs, he sings the songs,
he plays the harp as easy as one could sing,
if, one could sing as well as he.
(did i actually just write that!?).

in recent weeks, the show has premiered
more of that california harp-l slugger,
the Ironman, the man who isn't happy unless
all his digits and pedal extremities are
all in full swing while he nonchalantly
plays his harp like a full rainbow.

others who have been featured
and are due for some more airplay include:
Bill Barrett (California),
who plays jazz harp the way it should be played
Mike Stevens (Canada),
who can really make some SOUNDS that whales would be jealous of
John "Whiteboy" Walden (GB),
who's monicker says it all!
Tom Ball (California),
at least cuts from his super Sonny Terry licks cd/book!
(an educated listener is a good listener!)

and even harp-l patron saint,
Douglas Tate! (GB), albeit on one of
the stations more appropriate classical shows.
(say, Doug, has my appliication
for sole franchisee for marketing
the Renny in Chuuk, Ponphei, and Yap
been processed yet?)

Danny comments above on my "fantastic" job,
well, that praise is certainly misplaced--
it's these folks listed above who do the fantastic job,
not me!
it's so easy for me to slip their music in the slot--
it's simply that good!

i'm happy to help out where i can,
and the service done is not just for the
harp-l-ers, but the listeners, who can get a
different dynamic of what's going out there
(in less or more remote areas).

thanks again to all of you who have been on air,
and who will be one day soon.

keep it up your inspiring work!

i love it!

end of plug.
