Subject: 2 draw rings on G Golden Melody

I took this weekend to make new incursions
on repairing territory.

I was able to successfully repair a ringing
3D reed of a G Golden Melody. Its left side was touching
the reedplate when vibrating, producing the ringing.
I was able to smooth the edges of the reedplate hole,
removing the annoying sound...

But this same G Golden Melody has the 2 draw
ringing, and I believe that this time it's the reed
hitting the cover plate... Primarily I think I'm
helpless on this problem, but just thought the
repairing wizards out there could have a solution...

I also began to try to revive a badly leaking
G Marine Band... I'm thinking about building a "Hot-Rod"
MB out of this harp, just to try to learn a few things.
I'm thinking about silicone(sp?) layers between the reedplates
and the comb, and to use screws instead of nails to
attach the plates...

I messed a little bit with the silicone over the
comb, and found that it may be difficult to obtain a
uniform and solid layer of it. Any ideas on a good method
to obtain it?
