Subject: plate thickness etc

Marc Kunkel expresses the opinion that all this discussion regarding
plate thickness etc is merely a smokescreen of denial regarding the
apparent collective poor tone of the list. I'm curious, in what way
does this add to the discussion? An act of thread sabotage? An attempt
at clogging the works? (I couldn't resist) My impression of harp-l
over the years is that it is a forum for all harmonica enthusiasts to
express and discuss things pertaining to harmonica. A merely dismissive
assault on the timbre of people you've never heard play doesn't seem to
fall under this extremely broad category. If I were under the strongly
held impression that reedplate thickness didn't make a difference in the
tone of a harmonica I think I'd stick to that and then move on to
suggest the Special 20 because of their comfort and longevity and leave
it at that. Perhaps I misread the post? fjm
