This is because the air pressure increases as I go for a TB bend, I get significant leakage on my non-tongue side at the corner of my mouth, and it doesn't go down as far or as easily. So even though my throat bending is very similar to pursing, because of a poor TB purchase on the harp (I suppose) the lip pursing is far better for bends.
