Randy,
I was asked to cop that solo a couple of years ago when that track
first came out, they wnted it for a "Close-Up" toothpaste jingle and
didn't want to pay the royalties so decided to "rip it off" as best
they could (Shame,Shame,Shame on Madison Ave.)
Anyway, I spent alot of time with that track, Musselwhite told me
that it was him at the TOP of the Track and later as you suspected it's
a "Looped" Effect using a sample etc. Hope this helps...
