Need a little help. I think I might have found an older model 364/28. I curious as to how old it might be. There's no date or anything on it, but the bottom coverplate does have some slight differences that my 364/24(key of C).
First off, I bought it used from and antique/thrift dealer. It appears to have never been played. On first appearence, the paint is intact, no chipping. The coverplates are dull. There are little dings in them where it looks like small patches of rust are hiding. The reverse side of the cover plates are shiny with no apearence of past moisture. The reedplates have a little green patina on the upper plate, but in one spot only. The tarnish is uniformed and no fingerprints. After cleaning it, I played it. It playes like a new harp. It feels like it needs to be broken in. It's also in tune. There's a funky smell to it, kind of like cat piss. That might be the brass.
As compaired to my 364/24, the coverplates of the 364/28 is slightly diffrent. The /28 top plate doesn't have "MADE IN GERMANY" on it. The bottom coverplate where I guess those symbols represent awards won, are also slightly diffrent.
I'll list the diffrences next to each other.
364/24(C) GRAND PRIX GENEVE 1927 364/28(G) GRAND PRIX GENEVE 1937 the top symbol has the date 1927 printed in it. You know, the one that looks like a harp.
364/24(C) GRAND PRIX PHILAD. 1927 364/28(G) GRAND PRIX PHILAD. 1926
364/24(C) GRAND PRIX PARIS 364/28(G) GRAND PRIX PARIS 1937 Also, the bottom symbol with the ship in it, it sails to the left on the "28" and to the right on the "24".
Well, that's it.
