I had forgotten about this until UofC was mentioned. The interview is
with Dennis Draina (sp?) of the National Institute of Deafness and
Hearing Loss. Previous studies and the current UofC study, and the
scientific basis of it, were discussed in this broadcast. For example
they are using pure tone generated by computer to eliminate the
possibility of "clues" from resonance of other strings when a piano is
used for testing. They are also structuring the study to determine
gradation of ability. I think this broadcast was about 6 minutes (I have
a config. problem with RA right now so I can't check).
Enjoy! ... Dan Plestid

Thanks for the information, Joe. For anyone who misses the program and has
RealAudio (FREE download), all "Morning Edition" programs are archived, and
you can listen to any segment of any program going back to 1995. Just go to

http://christie.prognet.com/contentp/npr.index.html

and click on the "Morning Edition" icon and you will get to the January 1998
calendar, where you can click on 30 (which will probably not be available
until tomorrow). BTW, you can also go to the RealAudio home page from the
address above to obtain the free software.

Happy listening!
