Hi, (hey!... a new subject) As I had mentioned last week, I played another song with my harp teacher's (Max Hilliard, great guy!!) band The Bluescasters. It was my 2nd invitation to "strut my stuff" the first playing Stormy Monday Blues. This time I played Got my Mojo Workin' (thanks for all of the replys about the difinitive Mojo). I listened to 3 different Muddy versions, a Cotton, a Pinetop and Butter. Max also sent me a tape of their version that morning so I'd get a feel for the tempo etc. So, I get to the bar and it is PACKED! I had to eat onions just to get throught the crowd. Max tells me I'm on in the middle of the 3rd set. So I sit back, enjoy the show, give Max hand gestures so adjust the PA. I'm pretty relaxed, surely those people arn't going to ALL stick around. WRONG!!! Suddeny I'm up... it's MOJO TIME! :- o I put on my Ray-Bans so that I can close my eyes and still look OK and wail. The singer through an extra solo at me, I didn't miss a beat. It's over and the crowd is clapping, yelling, pounding on the tables. Max is pounding me on my back... I fooled them all, ha, ha, haaaa... they though that I actually KNEW what I was doing and did it on purpose!
Geeze... I really wish I knew what I'd played!!! I have no recollection at all. Lucky for me, Max taped it and is going to give me a copy. I'm sure that I'll never play it again the same way. Next time... Mustang Sally or Hochie Couchie Man. OH YEAH!!!!!!! :-)
