Subject: 11th Position on Natural Minor

Hi Y'all Listers.

I've been experimenting with playing Major Scales on Natural Minor
tuned diatonics. That is essentially 11th Position, wrt/ Wheel of
Fifths theory. Where the 11th Position is the relative major of the
2nd Position natural minor.

Here is a special tuning that I derived from the Lee Oskar
Natural Minor. The 3 blow reed has been raised a full step.
This produces a 7th when I am using the 3 draw as a tonic
for a major scale.

"Kentucky Major" tuning, key of CMaj

This tuning retains most of the chord flavor of the natural minor
tuning. Note that the 2 Draw can be easily bent upto 3 half steps
(in the above example: Ab, G, F#). Compared to the standard Richter
tuning, most of the blow and draw notes are inverted. This allows
draw bending on the 1st, 3rd, and 5th scale degrees for a different
set of playing dynamics.

I call this tuning the "Kentucky Major" because I first altered the
3 draw note so that I could resolve the melody for "My Old Kentucky
Home." This tuning also seems to work well with many Celtic and
Appalachian tunes, as well as some blues standards.

BTW, this alt tuning exists in Pat Missin's collection as 2.1a.
