When can you put on your resume that you've played, sat-in with another performer, band, orchestra. I read enough bio to know that a lot of guys get to sit in with a lot of notable players/groups. When can you really take credit for it though. Also, if you have played with notable players/groups, should you be able to use them as a reference?
I guess what I'm looking for is credibility in a musician. Like I said, I've read the bios of quite a few bands and seen who they've backed up opened for and played with. From the club side, I know how these things get booked. It ain't rocket science. From a performance side, the band may know you're a good player or they might have gotten you up there because the management wanted that to happen or it's the only way the band could get you off their back or while your on stage the guy that's sitting out is hitting on your woman.
I'm updating my resum=E9 and I was debating putting on it some of the people I've had the chance to play with a few times. The problem is, after seeing so many bad bands with very impressive bios, I know most clubowners aren't impressed with it.
The other thing. With all the players on these list, how come I don't read about any headcutting going on.
