Subject: 5th position

How many players out there use 5th position (Em on a C harp, correct?) a
lot? I play more in 5th position than 1st, 3rd and 4th combined so far.
(Granted I'm a beginner, but I play Em on my C harp only slightly less than
I play in G) Did any of the "greats" use 5th position much? (Maybe
somebody could point me in the direction of some CDs showcasing this.) I
tell you what, it makes Ab, Eb and Db harps much more attractive (yielding
Cm, Gm and Fm, respectively)! Also, the putty retuning thread started me
thinking about some crazy temporary tunings I could try out. For instance,
if I tuned the 1, 4, 7, and 10 blow reeds on my C harp all down to B's, I
would have Em triads unbroken the whole way up the harp! Maybe I could
tune the 5 and 9 draws (the F's) up to F#'s to give the 2nd/9th of the
chord and a more natural minor sound? This would yield a harp that looked
like this:

Has anyone out there tried anything similar? The "extra" bends on 1 and 4
draw would be neat. The double B on 7 would be a little strange though,
eh? It's funny, it seems the more posts I read on this crazy list, the
more insane questions I come up with. I'm beginning to understand how BBB
and the BluesGeek (not to mention Siegfried, et al) got so crazy! (no
offense intended - i just appreciate your senses of humor. warped like a
