Hi Roy
I'm glad you confirmed some of the things I mentioned about note attack and life length ( Re: Re[2]: freezing harps and longevity 10/30/98)
I was starting to wonder if anyone had noticed it!!!!
You also Ask / say... > I wonder if others have similar experience in bending- induced premature aging becoming less of an issue with better technique.
i am pretty certain this is so... i too would love to hear comments on that
>(I'd ask Doug, but perhaps he considers Blues a quaint custom only a former colony could love.
There is an ethnic joke in Sweden (it is also heard in nearly ALL neighbouring countries throughout the world!!!) ..... Sweden is to build lunatic asylums for itself and Norway ... they will build 5 in Sweden and put a roof over Norway..
Same with blues really we have about 5-6 mad blues players in the UK .... (I'll get kicked for that) ... may I quote for the roof over the US of A????
There is no link between 'my' type of music (classical) and 'your' type of music (blues) ... it is all part of a large continuum of wonderful music..... Since being on and learning from Harp-l, being given a well set up harp by my partner BG and having played paradise (Joe Filisko brass body, with Joe hovering anxiously) yes I have shut all doors and windows, anaesthetized the dog and had excursions into trying to feel this area of music ... it is great , not withstanding the look of haunted terror on the dog's face
>>But I bet he goes out and wails in the potting shed when no one is watching! Anyone got a bootleg?) You haven't seen the state of my potting shed!!!!
Even I don't dare record what I play in Blues.... I would feel guilt for the rest of my life if I put all of you nice people out of work. My blues playing is better than 99% of all cats in the world.
