Subject: 365/SBS harps

I'm a fan of the SBS harps as rhythm machines. I use the D tuned (straight) to
play my one and five chord and draw into my C tuned for the four chord. The
dynamics can be further inhanced having high and low chords. With the D and C
being as low as they are it sets up this rhythm machine for Bluegrass. reggae,
carribbean, old timey or irish. Another advantage to this style is the use of
the C chord in tunes like Over the Waterfall. Melody runs using this
techinique tells you when the chord changes occur. Usally the missing melody
notes will be found on the C harp. thus a C chord.

Recently I'm doubling up on the SBS cross and using a 10 hole (straight) to
playing a higher lead. with a pump style.

My style of harp keeps going back to the full pump style of lots and lots of
rhythm connected to leads using TB, Channel tonque and pucker. Fiddle tunes
and old timey harp is power housed by the channel tonque/ drum techiniques. I
tell my students that the tonque is an idiotic animal that loves to tap on the
harp like a drummers hand on a bar table.
