Ok I figured it out. Looking embarrased as I type the answer is:

He uses an A diatonic Harp on much of the intro (high notes bent all
over the place) and he ALSO switches to a D diatonic Harp during parts
of his harp solo. I was striking out trying to play the whole song on my
D harp.

Folks this is the coolest of cool blues tunes. The lyrics and vocal are
great. The harp is fantastic, the beat will make your bones rattle
in their sockets ...

AND

the harp parts which sound great are fairly slow and easy to play
once you figure out you need an A and a D harp, but sound really fine.

I would put this near the top of my all time favorite practice tunes
to play along with for intermediate/advanced harp players or people trying
to become intermediate/advanced. This sounds so cool when you get rolling
with both harps that you will be absolutely feel the high of reaching a new
level.

Of course Lee makes it sound wonderful with his soul and polished harp style,
but
a number of us amatuers who don't play as well as Lee will have a blast
playing along with this song and studying the technique of a master.

Lee, wherever you are this is a great recording. Taught me a thing or two
about blues harp. Thanks !!! Hope to see you play in Chicago some day
if you ever come this way.

On this song he did with The Crawl there is a part in the intro where
he does a little riff using high notes that I can not figure out.

I am trying to play this song with a D harp which seems right everywhere
but this high note intro part. Specifically sounds like he is drawing on hole
8
when out comes this series of bent high notes that I can not get to bend out
of any of my D harps (Honer Blues Harp, Special 20 or Lee Oskar D diatonic
harps). The Harps ain't broken. Either I am broken or missing his trick.

Is he switching between two harps or is there a way to actually play this
on a D diatonic. I have gone through the 12 standard keys of diatonic Harps
and can't figure this out. I have played blues since 1968 and would classify
myself as an advanced amature.
