Fellow harpers,
I'd like to bring a small issue for discussion: Which harp is best to carry along with you?
I remember before I started playing, the thing that drew me into playing the harmonica was its unique sound, but especially its portability.
Now since you cant really carry all harps along in your shirt pocket, and you cant carry your favorite C D G A harps, which harp should you get?
Here is my opinion: (I even decorated a bit cause its half past midnight and I'm bored as hell!)
-=[ key of C ]=-----------
a C harp is a good harp to carry along as it is the most basic harp to play anything from blues to country. Its not too high or too low to be unplayable, it has a good bluesy sound but is too limited because you cannot play good low-scale blues with it or a real good high-end folk song.
-=[ key of D ]=-----------
a D harp is a great harp to carry if all you play is blues, if you tend to play country songs or high-end scale blues (which are my favorites), don't take a D harp.
-=[ key of G ]=-----------
a G harp is simply too low for me. good, clear blues songs can only be achieved on its high-scale (I just love bending 1st position high-end blues scales!), but still, I find this harmonica inefficient to carry.
-=[ key of A ]=-----------
an A harp, imho, is the best harp to carry, you cannot ignore its brilliant bluesy sound, it's low, but not too low tones and it's not too high high-end scale. I consider my A as a playable, or maybe blues playable G harp, it takes all the bass wonders of the G, the feeling of the C and the bluesy sound of the D.
