Subject: Amps: Floating Ground

Amp owners.....

Floating ground amps are not very common. I am unaware of any Fender amps
designed as such. There may be some old amps out there with a floating
ground, but a vast majority of amps are grouned to the chassis and can be
grounded to earth (if in doubt take it to a tech!!!). The one thing that was
missing with the old amps was a connection to a real earth ground. Thus,
people would get electrocuted or shocked when their body acted as the ground.
Eventually, inside building wiring included a ground and most electronics
started to use the 3-prong plugs. Any "stray" electricity shunts to the earth
ground and not your body! Whew!
