Longtime Harp-l subscriber and my good friend Will Jennings has just informed me that he and his band Big Wooden Radio have been invited to perform at South By Southwest in Austin, Texas this month. This is a prestigious event and I'm real excited for Will and the guys.
The venue is: Maggie Mae's on 6th St. at 8pm on Friday March 16th.
As the following link shows they'll be in good company: http://www.austin.citysearch.com/E/F/AUSTX/0000/16/92/3.html
Big Wooden Radio has made their mark throughout the midwest with their ultra-tight multi-part harmonies and fun, accessible songs. Will is a great harp player with his own fresh style. He has excellent tone and always plays the right stuff. One of my favorite things about BWR is the wonderful and creative interplay between Will's harmonica and Joe Peterson's mandolin. This is a very cool and always entertaining band.
Will, Joe and guitarist Sam Thompson will be joined at SXSW by:
Andy Carlson from Kentucky on fiddle and guitars Forest Rose on upright bass
This past weekend Big Wooden Radio released their third CD which I look forward to hearing. I understand it has a new swampy version of Will's great song "Waterbound" that was on their first CD. All of the Big Wooden Radio's CDs can be obtained from Will who can be contacted at:

The unusual disclaimer is that I have nothing to do with Big Wooden Radio but most definitely want to see success go their way.
