fwd'd with the permission of the original correspondent. I'll add to this the rejoinder and reminder that as with all threads that you might find of no interest the option to not read them always remains. Bemused that we are after all on a boy's list and emotions can be a touchy subject for some. While advice is not what I'm seeking, apparently advice is what some choose to send. Brevity being of some value but in this particular case it's not a watchword. Dialogue, that'd be the direction I'd like to head. Dismissive remarks regarding breathing lessons hardly qualify as useful or constructive. While paragraphs might work for some, they're certainly easier to read, I choose for stylistic reasons to eschew them. I'm curious about the motivation of a poster that appends a two line cleverness to a longish post requoted in its entirety. Killing two birds with one stone here, the fwd stands alone, my remarks too should be viewed in the context of a reply to not this fwd but another post all together. Confused? good I've acheived my goals and quota for the day. Back to our regularly scheduled programming, apt choice of words, programming, any one else using the small bottle Tung-Sol 5881's? What'dya think? fjm

As I read your post I began remembering all the frustrations of working at playing instead of simply playing. I think surely, we must all, at one time or another, struggle with these conflicts and feelings of doubt and introspection. Barry Green, with the help of W. Timothy Gallwey, wrote a book which addresses this subject quite nicely. If I may recommend it: "The Inner Game of Music". I'm still reading it. I've been reading it for nearly a year now. It's one of those books like Douglas Tate's "Play the Harmonica Well". You don't just read it and go on with your life. You use it in your musical life. Or, there's the other approach taken by Chevy Chase in the movie Caddyshack. "Just be the ball."
