Subject: amp question

My amp has two possibilities for connecting speakers:
1. Total impedance of 8 ohms
2. Total impedance of 4 ohms.
My (selfmade) speakerbox has a total impedance of 6.95 ohms or 8.45
ohms. I am not certain about that (I forgot the impedance (20 or 40
ohms) of a resistor I connected with the tweeter; the other speakers are
3 ten inchers of 32 ohms). The only way to get this information is
opening the box, which cannot be done without damaging the venyl layer.
Now the question:
Should I connect the box to the 4 ohm output or to the 8 ohm output. Or
will the amp be damaged whichever way I choose?
