Subject: Dennis Gruenling mod to my CAD50VC

Hey all,

I picked up my CAD50VC (basically a JT-30 with a gold grille) on
Saturday afternoon from Dennis Gruenling. He switched the volume pot
and replaced the XLR connector with a switchcraft connector and 1/4
inch plug adapter. I had a gig that night and I didn't have a chance
to try it out before, so I just winged it cold with it.

Man, what an improvement. With the old set-up going through my
Vibro-Champ, I would typically have to set the volume at 9-10 to get
decent stage volume (I mike it throught the PA). After the mod, I
could set it at 5-6. And the tone is much tighter.

The improvement wasn't just in my head either -- the rest of the band
commented on how good it sounded.

Anyway, if you've read Harp-L posts about volume pot mods and thought,
"will it really make a difference?", all I can say is it really DOES
make a difference.

If you'd like to contact Dennis about this, you can reach him at
732-752-5737 (he knows I'm giving out his number). He's very
reasonable and he did the work in three weeks.

Give him a call and tell him Jimbeau sent ya.

(My thanks to Tom Ellis for steering me to Dennis and for the
suggestions on what mods to do.)

Later,

Jimbeau
