Subject: Mic & Amp.

Out of curiosity I visited my local music shop (who have a very limited
range of harps BTW), and asked about which Amps and Mics they recommend for
harp players.

Without hesitation they pointed at the Green Bullet 520DX for NZ$299 and the
Jansen Entertainer 30 NZ$525. To me thats a fair bit of dosh.

I have never performed, but I'm toying with the idea, figured if I learnt to
use the mic before making a fool of myself, and I'm wondering whether to go
whole hog off the bat and only have to set my self up once with expensive
goodies. Or to go for something second hand and loads cheaper.

They didn't have a Jansen on site, but they said the Jansen Entertainer is
not an amp I'd grow out of. Its got two inputs (instrument & voice),
rechargable battery built in, 12" speaker and apparently good quality. I
know if one is looking various tonal qualities, warmth etc, that tube amps
are the way to go. I figured the Entertainer wasn't a tube amp ?

Any comments, recommendations ?
