Ron makes a good point about the Green Bullet vs. Blues Blaster. I personally find the Blues Blaster "rounder" in tone, more versatile for my money. But of course it's a question of taste. I use both.
If you went into a music shop that specialised in pianos, and said you wanted an electric guitar, they'd probably say "Fender Stratocaster". It's the same with harp gear. If the shop doesn't have special knowledge of harps, they'll automatically say "Green Bullet". This is because they've probably never heard of anything else!
As far as amps are concerned it sounds like they reccommend what they have in stock, and not what you need. Again it's a question of personal taste, but for a beginner, they should suggest something more standard (after the same principal that they suggest the GB).
So, before you go for the Jansen, try some others, both transistor and tube. I'd suggest you try a Fender Blues Junior which is a cheap, good quality tube amp with a "classic" sound. It's also important to remember that watts is not the issue when choosing a harp amp. 15W in a tube amp is a lot more than 15W transistor (and of course it's no problem to mic up the amp for large venues). If you do go for a transistor amp you would probably need som kind of effects processor to get a suitable overdriven sound. You must add the cost of this to your investment.
So the bottom line is: if I was you I'd check out some other music shops that can give you some alternatives, both for mic and amps. Try them and choose that which suits your taste.
