I started playing harp in 1972, bought my first amp in 1974, a 1972 Fender
Vibro Champ, silverface. In 1976 I "lost" the cabinet, and built myself a
new one. I also trashed the speaker, which has been replaced. This is
still my gig amp of choice when venue size and band volume permit. I was
very lucky to have stumbled on the Champ that early on, even luckier to
have picked it up at a pawn shop for $60. Didn't hurt that in 1973 I stood
at the feet of Magic Dick and watched him blow for three awesome hours
through a blackface Princeton Reverb.
