Subject: Canned Heat vs J.Geils Band

Canned Heat mentioned in the same sentence with the phrase British
Invasion? I don't think so and Alan Wilson's subjectively a much better
harmonica player than even Magic Dick. I can't tell you the last time I
pulled out my old vinyl of Full House, Uncanned's in my CD player on a
regular basis. I own absolutely no Bluestime and if J. Geils came to
town I'd most likely skip the show. Diversity in the marketplace, it
keeps things interesting. fjm

Ok, I can't resist jumping into this can of worms! No disrepect intended to
J.Geils Band, Magic Dick or anyone who disagrees with me.

Is Alan Wilson a "better" harmonica player than Magic Dick? No way! Not
even close!

Is Alan Wilson a "better" musician than Magic Dick? Absolutely. No
comparison.

In my opinion Alan Wilson's musical talent borders on genius. But except
for his unique fabulous vibrato his harmonica technique and skills don't
even come close to Magic Dick's.

That said, I'd rather listen to 5 hours of Alan Wilson playing harp than 5
minutes of Magic Dick playing harp.

Alan Wilson can move me with two notes. Magic Dick might impress me, but
he's never moved me.
