Subject: RE: Beeswax Alternnatives

Hello I am new to the list and I just saw this post and had to respond.
My favorite Harmonica is the Koch Diatonic Chromatic but the troble with
it is that it leaks quite a bit. I have tried several things to fix the
problem, and have found that lemond oil does the trick it lasts about a
month It is the lemon oil that you can get in a kitchen supply store the
oil that you would use for salad bowls and the like. I have tried
vegtable oils but they can get stickey and make the reeds stick and you
have to blow you brains out to loosen them. Lemon oil is thiner and does
not get sticky And I have also used it on my other wood comb Harps

Has anyone out there ever tried soaking a wood comb in oil, say,
overnight
to seal/moisture-proof it? I would think that a light, non-toxic oil -
sunflower oil? - would soak right into the wood rendering it quite a bit
more water-resistant than normal. I guess the trick might be in wiping
off
the excess oil without cracking the comb.
Or you could just play with a mouthful of vinegar, lettuce, tomatos and

croutons. :-)
