Subject: Baltimore & The Boss

Adam:

I'll be in Baltimore from Sunday 8/29- Saturday 9/4. Thursday night I'll be
in Fells Point at the Full Moon Saloon where I first learned how to play
harmonica (with John Thaden) and on Monday Night the open Mic at the 8x10 is
hosted by a friend. Are there any Harmonica related shows I should check
out in my old home town?

The purpose of this trip is to see the Springsteen on 9/3. He taught me an
important lesson about playing Rock & Roll and harmonica. I saw him front
row, and during the ending jam to "Promised Land," the passion and
commitment he displayed to being right there, in the moment, was like him
saying, "This is how you play Rock & Roll." Many "guitar
playing/singer/songwriter" type harmonica players like Bruce, Neil Young,
Steve Forbert, and even Dylan don't get the credit they deserve for using
the harmonica as another voice to communicate they're vision. That lesson
was also important in distinguishing my priorities when I play live and in
the studio. As I've become more technically proficient, this has been an
important lesson to return to and has helped me find my own voice on the
instrument.

Thanks for making this forum possible,

Clay
