Subject: Big Walter effects

It's been awhile since BW has been mentioned on list. For the past few days
I've been listening to a bunch of cd's i have of him, trying to analyze his
various recordings of Walter's Boogie, aka Rockin' My Boogie. These use
similar sounding riffs, but were all played slightly differently.
One cut in particular fascinates me because it has an effect that is unusal
in that I never heard him do this on any other recording. Specifically on
track 18, Walter's Boogie, on the Johnny Young "Chicago Blues" cd, he employs
in several riffs what sounds to be either electronic effect (reverb/echo) or
him playing into a glass or something similar. Is anyone familiar with the
technique he is using and willing to elaborate for me?
By the way, the tracks I'm studying are:
Walter's Boogie from Can't keep lovin you
Rockin' My Boogie from Toronto '73
Rockin' My Boogie from Chicago the blues today Vol 3
Walter's Boogie from Johnny Young's Chicago Blues (noted above)
Big Walter's Boogie from They Call Me Big Walter
Walter's Boogie from An Offer You Can't Refuse
All similar sounding great driving boogie tracks.
