Ken Deifik mentioned the name Bill Putnam, in reference to early reverb recordings. Bill was also instumental in the 1947 recording of the original Peg O' My Heart, using the mic setup in a tiled mens' room, which gave the recording the reverb sound almost unheard of at that time. This was an innovation supposedly discovered by Bill, and was one of the first, if not the first, use in a commercial recording. Check out a photo of the 'Cats with Bill and his daughter at:
