Subject: Arrangers Piano

Hi all,
In answer to Jack Ely's question: "What is arrangers Piano?" Tony
Sheppard summed it up pretty well, I thought...Generally, it means that
the arranger, orchestrator etc. plays reasonably well enuf' to cover
what he (or she) needs to write or compose music...Generally, while the
arranger may not play at a high enuf' level technically, to consider
himself a pianist, that person will often utilize harmonies, and strata
chords that would baffle the usual pianist...In my own case, I can often
impress pianists with my pianistics, fancy harmonies, and lightning
arpeggios.(I used to write a lot for (stringed) harp) so I learned to
play all the harp arpeggios..very impressive...but I have trouble with
simple tunes like Jingle Bells...Or with reading music on the piano,
because I finger all wrong, and lose my place...So that should give you
an idea of what arrangers piano symbolizes!
All the best,
Blackie
