I remember back in the 60's Tony Glover, a fine player and writer of the book I learned from back then, was Tony "Little Sun" Glover. The liner notes to one of his records mentioned that the derivation of the nickname was "personal," which I always found amusing.
I think you might consider taking a nickname that you then keep completely secret. As in Bill "I Have A Nickname But It's None Of Your Goddam Business" Price.
Not as good maybe, but since as far as I've read in the digest nobody else has suggested it: Bill "Picture your ad here; Call for rates" Price
Actually I kind of like the idea of a nickname with a semicolon in it.
