>I have 4 questions. 1. What is impedence?
Dynamic resistance to current flow.
2.Why is high impedence preferred >over low impedence for harp mikes?
Tube amps have high input impedance and you want to match impedance for maximum signal transfer.
3. If a vintage dynamic mike has a 4 >pronged amphenol connecter: is this still quit OK?
As long as it is wired acceptably to your input.
4. If a vintage dynamic >mike has layed around for years without use: Will it loose some punch, but >get it back after it is returned to use?
Good question. Dynamic mic's commonly have a diaphragm and voice coil just like a speaker. If there was some condensation on the diaphragm (or spit) when it was stored, this could dry and restrict the response of the diaphragm. After playing, this crud could dissipate or melt and the mic regain some "punch". Gross, eh? Where will that old spit go while you are sucking air past the mic head????
thanks in advance, Ed
