Subject: Cakewalk Home Studio/ Christmas Presents

Merry Christmas and Happy New Year. I was away from my desk and have been
wanting to say that to you all.

What I got in my stocking was Steve Baker’s Workshop CDRom (if anyone wants
excerpts from this or info about it, lemme know. I like it a lot and the
price is right… but, on the other hand, Mike Will’s website has all the
theory, and with a little work downloading midi’s etc, one would have
everything for free)... I also got a midi keyboard and the Cakewalk (Pro
Studio 9) software.

About Cakewalk…

No. About Home Computer Audio Studios in general: Does ~midi~ always have to
sound like ~midi~???? Is this a function of the sound card? Or CAN I do
layered tracks of ~actual~ instruments…??? I’m having fun with the keyboard
and Cakewalk… but if I’m limited to this ~midi file sound~… I may as well
just collect files from the Net and save myself the trouble of ~composing~.
Any thoughts on that?

May all your resolutions be somewhat realistic, and fulfilled by April

Robb
