To all Harp-L members,

First, thanks for being there; for all the great information and insights
that I glean from the list each and every day.

Some background . . .
I started playing harmonica two years ago -- with virtually no musical
experience whatsoever. I discovered Harp-L shortly thereafter. I read all
the messages religiously for about two months -- and developed a "keepers"
document for the most helpful information. (A special thanks to Barry B.
Bean, Harmonica John, and Iron Mike Curtis.) I bought a couple of the most
highly recommended instruction packages: David Barrett's "Building Harmonica
Technique" and Jerry Portnoy's "Masterclass" package -- and every blues harp
CD I could afford. Then I unsubscribed. I decided that the time I was
spending with Harp-L might better be spent practicing.

Over the past two years, I feel that I've made some significant progress in
my ability to play the harp. I see myself as a lower- to
middle-intermediate player. I returned to the fold a few weeks ago and have
been "listening in". It's like I was never away. The information remains
as interesting and as useful as ever -- probably more so, since I'm better
able to understand and relate to it now. Again, thanks. (I'm almost afraid
to ask, but why haven't I seen any posts from Iron Mike?)

Now, for a little more information about me -- more than any of you probably
want to know:

A few months ago, I started getting together with a co-worker, a guiter
player, to "jam" one night a week. A couple weeks later, another co-worker,
also a guitarist, started to join us. A few weeks after that another fellow
employee, a drummer, asked if he'd be welcome at our jam sessions. The
answer was a resounding "yes". With the addition of a bass player (not a
co-worker) last week, we now feel that we've rounded out our sound and have
the potential to actually be "a band".

Looking towards that goal, I've put together a survey. If you have a few
moments to spare, I'd appreciate your help. Just click on the following
link (or cut and paste it as needed).

Thanks in advance for your participation and feedback.

If you know of any other people that would be willing to take my survey,
please forward the survey link to them -- or send me a message off-list with
their e-mail addresses. All e-mail addresses will remain confidential and
used only for this one-time survey.

Thanks again,
Steve
