Subject: a few more suggestions (Re: Album suggestions

I wouldn't worry much about War ;)...for jazz though, Toots Thelleman (name
is spelt wrong?? ;) is a good bet...looks like you have some good
suggestions so far...any Howard Levy is great!!...with Bela Fleck and the
Flecktones and Levy you get a crew of truly amazing musicians and you can't
go wrong...you should get their live album "Live Art"...it has some Levy on
there also...Carlos Del Junco is another excellent player you can get a CD
of

in fact you should try to get as many live shows as you can from any of
your suggested harp players below...live performance brings out different
qualities in musicians as they surprise themselves as well as the audience
at times...it is also, a true test of that player's ablility and
improvisation skills...i respect the hours that people put into studio work
(actually, i'm about to experience that for myself in a few weeks)...but
even they must agree that playing live takes a certain mindset...one's goal
should be to play the same way...live or studio...at all times...since when
you play live you don't get another take...

another good suggestion is to get a compilation CD such as Blues Master's
volumes with all harp songs and such...that will open you up to different
playing styles, old and new...i believe that a live Whammer Jammer is on
the volume 16 CD??

btw, if you want to *hear* Blues Traveller (since i was writing about the
subject of live and studio)...you shouldn't bother much with the studio
stuff until you hear how they really sound live..same goes with the
majority of jamming bands...in some cases, live is the better choice for a
particular band (i would say style but there are a bunch of jamming bands
that surpass the style restraints so they would be impossible to
classify)...with that in mind, you should get Blues Traveller's double disc
live album, "Live from the Fall"...this is an excellent live album from
their fall '96 tour (i believe)...i'm very interested to hear any bootlegs
of their new +keyboard, +funky bass additions though!

May go shopping tomorrow for music. Will be looking at both new and
used, including used vinyl. But, hopefully someone I don't have in the
collection. So, open up to suggestions.

Best source for Whammer Jammer. I have never heard it. I think there
is a live and studio version. Recommendations? Chon says "Full House".
What about the "Chimes"?

War albums? Don't have those either.

Butterfield? Hot Tuna?

John Popper? Shane1198 recommended the first self titled CD (I assume
of Blues Traveller?) SK said "Straight on Til Morning."

Howard Levy w/Bela Fleck?

Mike Turk?

Will also be looking for complete Chess collection of Howlin Wolf. Or
maybe London Session. And will look for a Rice Miller collection. I
think I have only hear SBWII on Mick Martin's show.

Haven't really decided if I'm going to invest in new harps. But I
figure after this last year, I deserve some new music.

Suggestions? Jazz, classic rock, blues.
Whoops. Almost forgot Brandon Power.
