Subject: Allow myself to introduce... myself

Hello Everybody,

I've been lurking now for a couple weeks and figured it was time to de-lurk
for a minute to say hi. I was actually subscribed briefly in late 94/early
95 and I still recognize a few names here (who could forget Winslow Yerxa
:>). I had to unsubscribe when I lost my college email account and just
never got back on.

I consider myself an intermediate player- I can play (or play along with)
just about anything, but I do it a little sloppy and my tone needs some
work. I began teaching myself to play after first seeing Blues Traveler in
concert in 1991. I played in a few very short-lived bands in college- blues,
rock, and 'world' music. Since graduating in '95, I've only played in very
casual settings with acoustic guitar or drum circle accompaniment (a blast
if you've never tried it). But I've become more interested in the past year
in improving my playing and that's why I'm here. Among my
influences/favorites are:

James Cotton
Junior Wells
Charlie Musselwhite
John Popper
Big Walter Horton
Carey Bell
Adam Gussow
Jerry Portnoy
Paul Butterfield
Wild Child Butler
Corky Siegel
And 100 more

My main interest is blues, obviously, but lately I find myself playing along
with Coltrane and Charlie Parker. I prefer the Suzuki Promaster right now,
but am on more of a Big River budget. I own a chromatic, but wish it came
with training wheels.

And on the Music and Sex thread, they're both very satisfying, but I've yet
to hear a crowd applaud me after sex. At least a real crowd.

So that's all for now. I look forward to learning from all of you and
contributing when I can.
