Subject: Arpeggios

Hi List,

There has been a little talk of arpeggios and I was wondering if someone who
(knowingly) uses them could expand on exactly what they are and application
of them.

My basic understanding is that arpeggios are the individual notes that make
up a chord. Application would logically mean using these notes in different
patterns over that chord you are playing. Correct?

So if I am correct here, how do some of you go about practicing, memorizing,
and eventually utilizing these? Are they useful in any genre of music? More
useful in a specific genre (say bluegrass vs. blues)? I am a budding
bluegrass/country player and know that (some) mandolin players use them
extensively in bluegrass playing.

Also, when will your I-IV-V course be available Winslow? That sounds like
something that would be good for me. I printed out your recent post that
briefly went over arpeggios, and will go over it tonight...

Thanks,

Aaron
