Dear Harp-L Subscribers, If you love the tone of Hohners (I do) but don't like the way the covers tarnish after a week or so, you might consider having the covers gold plated. My wife is a silversmith and is currently doing 24 carat gold plating for Hohner harp covers (all except Proharp & Meisterklasse since these are not nickel plated). She's done my Marine Bands, Golden Melodies, Special 20s, Big Rivers, and 260s and they look great. I think it has even improved the tone. No more tarnishing, just a beautiful golden harp! She uses an industrial process where the covers are cleaned then brushplated, enabling her to lay it on thick. No chipping or peeling and the plating holds up very well. So if you want to be a golden player contact me via email for prices which are very reasonable.
