Just to make things easier, I want to go over three technical issues here. Subscriptions, posting through yahoo groups and posting through harp-l-friends. I want to remind everybody of a few small things in the near future of this sort, so please bear with me.
UNSUBSCRIBNING. There is no shame in having been a member long enough to forget how to unsubscribe. However, we SHOULD try to remember how to do it on our own or where to go for help. To unsubscribe, send a message to: majordo~arply.com Saying: unsubscribe harp-l (or) unsubscribe harp-l-digest There is no need for a subject header. You must be using the same address that is subscribed to the list and the command must be in plain text. If you have any trouble or questions the best thing to do is to contact me or harp-l-worke~arply.com.
HARP-L-WORKERS If you don't know about harp-l-worke~arply.com, it is a groups of die-hard insomniacs who consistently aid list members in the subscription, posting and other technical processes regarding the list. These folks are heroes in their own right and we all owe them a great deal of thanks. Whenever you have questions you can send them directly to workers whether you are subscribed directly to the list or not. There is no incoming filter for messages to workers, so they suffer a great deal of SPAM on your behalf just to be available to all of you! Use them and make them feel needed ;-). They are the ones who REALLY make Harp-L work.
HARP-L-FRIENDS Harp-L-Friends is a list of e-mail addresses that are authorized to send mail to the list. It is used for posting messages by folks who read harp-l through the archives, yahoogroups or some other web interface such as the Harp-L pages (more on that next week). The proper address for posting through friends is the same as any other: harp~arply.com. Please do not post to the harp-l-friends address itself. One of our techs, Jonas Karlsson, did manage to make sure that no mail will be forwarded through that address to list members in the future (applause for Jonas please!). So, messages in the future to the friends address should bounce to me. However, it is important to remember that to be sure your posts get through to use only the harp~arply.com address.
TROUBLE POSTING If you are having trouble posting, do not hesitate to contact harp-l-worke~arply.com or me. We have a growing number of readers who use yahoogroups.com as their web interface. Because we are an "autonomous" list, yahoogroups members cannot post directly to harp-l without first subscribing to harp-l-friends (see above). As with digest members, to reply to harp-l posts once you are a member of friends, you need to create a new mail message and copy the necessary text and subject headers into that message. Otherwise we won't know what you are talking about ;-). It can be cumbersome, but it allows you to browse the list on-line without receiving heaps of messages and post whenever you wish. Again, if you have questions, feel free contact me or harp-l-worke~arply.com. Your local (and international) harp list heroes! Have Fun,
