I have a Blues Blaster and am very pleased with it. I prefer it to all my other mic's, including the my Green Bullet. However, such statements are completely subjective, there's no right and wrong when it comes to personal taste.

My completely non-technical description of the BB is that it's not as "hot" as the GB, this makes it easier to adjust the sound. One can compare it with substituting preamp tubes to get a "milder" sustain. In guitar-speak it's probably like comparing B.B.King to Johnny Winter.

The volume pot is an advantage in my opinion, but I know many people don't like them (the "new" Green Bullet has one as well). It helps me to place myself dynamically within the overall sound picture, which is a pompous way of saying that I can use it to adjust my volume to suit the music at any time. Many people claim the "right" way to do this is by playing louder/quieter rather than adjusting the volume with a pot. This is probably correct, but like Frank Sinatra, I do it my way.

Of course it's important to have a hi-z cable (see earlier threads on how to modify your cable). It took me a while before I figured that one out, but as they say in the Woodstock song, "life's for learning..." When I soldered my cable correctly it made all the difference (you don't have to do that with the GB because it's got a fixed cable that's already wired correctly).

I had an Astatics about 10 years ago and didn't like it. However, I had 10 years less experience then, and I was trying to play it through an unsubbed Marshall 50W. No wonder I had problems! So I won't presume to be an expert on that mic.

And now for my controversial statement which will probably set all the rockets off! In my opinion it doesn't really matter which mic you choose (within reason). After a while you get used to your choice and unconciously modify your playing to suit the mic's character, so that you end up with a sound you're happy with.

Now to get down in the trenches and wait for the (green) bullets to fly!!!

Regards
Tony
